📦 Getting Started (Windows)

1️⃣ Download the Software

Click the Download Now button above, or go directly to the releases page. The file you need is Script-CMS-windows.zip – it's the Windows version.

2️⃣ Unzip the file

After downloading, find the .zip file in your "Downloads" folder. Right-click the file and choose "Extract All…" (built into Windows) or use a free tool like 7-Zip / WinRAR. This will create a folder named Script-CMS with all the needed files inside.

3️⃣ Run the application

Inside the extracted folder, double-click start.bat (or ScriptCMS.exe – whichever is present). A small window will open. That's it – your personal website is now running! Your default browser will open automatically, showing your brand-new website home page.

️ Windows Defender Alert: Windows may ask you to confirm or allow the program to run. If this happens, click "More info" then "Run anyway" – this is because the app is brand new and not yet recognised by Microsoft's virus database, but it is 100% safe.

🛠️ Step-by-Step Installation

Click the button to go to the release page. Then click the .zip file – it will download directly from your browser.

  1. Visit the link: Click the green button above or go to github.com/Longdatum/Script-CMS/releases (case insensitive).
  2. Find the .ZIP file: Scroll down to "Assets" – usually a list with Script-CMS-windows-x64.zip and Source code (zip). Choose the Windows one.
  3. Click and download: The exact file name may vary slightly (e.g., script_cms_v1.2.zip). Your browser will start the download.
  4. Extract the folder: Once the file arrives, right-click it and choose "Extract to Current Folder". It will create a subfolder named Script-CMS containing index.html, admin.php, data/, and server.bat.
  5. Run the Launcher: Double-click launcher.bat – this will start a tiny PHP server and open your browser to your new site. If Windows shows a warning, accept the risk and continue.
  6. Enjoy your new CMS! You'll see a welcome page. To log in as admin, go to https://your-localhost/admin with username admin and password password – don't worry, you'll change this on first login.
